Vaccines/Preventative Care/Microchipping in New Orleans, LA
Your pet can have a longer, healthier life if you do routine examinations and ensure they receive the necessary vaccines on time.
Pet Vaccinations
Regular pet immunizations can avoid many diseases that might harm dogs and cats. When you initially bring your pet to The Avenue Animal Wellness + Emergency of New Orleans, we’ll check their vaccination records and put them on a regimen to ensure they stay current.
Our veterinarians will go over the best course of action for your pet’s vaccination plan based on their age, medical history, lifestyle, and environment. You can bring your cat or dog in for their initial round of vaccinations as early as six weeks.
After your pet receives the initial vaccinations, you must bring them back for boosters approximately every three months. Depending on the vaccine and your pet’s lifestyle, booster shots will be given to your pet every one to three years after the original set of shots is complete.
Microchipping
Every third pet will go missing. Without collars and tags, numerous lost animals are discovered. When lost animals are brought to a shelter, they are checked for microchips and the information obtained allows their owners to be contacted.
How does it work?
The area between the shoulder blades is implanted with a microchip the size of a rice grain. Each chip contains a distinctive identifying code that is activated by a scanner and will remain active for the whole lifespan of your pet.
Preventative Care
Parasite Prevention:
It’s possible that you can’t always detect if your pet has parasites. Fleas can conceal themselves under your pet’s fur, and some ticks are so little they are just the size of a pinhead, making them incredibly elusive. Roundworms are an example of an intestinal parasite that can cause diarrhea, vomiting, dehydration, and other issues, although some infected pets don’t even exhibit any sickness symptoms.
We can check your pet for signs of parasites like ticks, fleas, or other insects. Our knowledgeable staff can suggest drugs to treat intestinal parasites, heartworms, fleas, and ticks. Let’s work together to safeguard your pets and family by preventing parasites in your pets, which also helps to protect kids and other family members.
